Baby, It's Cold Outside

We took Owen outside today since we got around 10 inches of snow. This is the first time we put on his snowsuit. I attempted to get him to do a snow angel, but all he did was make a big dent in the snow and looked at me like I was crazy. We didn't last long outside because we've been having temperatures in the low teens. Hopefully next year Owen will be more excited about the snow and we can get him a snow shovel to help with our long driveway! That's Daddy's wishful thinking anyways!

Owen and Danila

Owen's friend, Danila, came over to play today. Here the boys are having a snack together. Danila is only a month older than Owen, but he has a couple of inches on him!

Helping Dad

We bought a new shelf for our family room (mostly to house Owen's books and baskets of toys). This morning Daddy was putting it together, and Owen was right there in the mix.

Climbing Stairs

Usually I don't want Owen anywhere near the stairs, but lately he has taken an interest in climbing them. He climbed his first stair at Grandma Wade's over the holdiays, then proceeded to fall off it. Thank goodness for soft carpet. That's not really the case at our house, so he has to be closely monitored. I've seen him go up 2 stairs, then loose steam. I can't believe that he's big enough to climb stairs already!

10 Months

It's now 2009, and Owen just continues to get bigger and bigger. We are so lucky to have this wonderful little guy and we can't wait to see what kind of person he will grow up to be.

Owen's 10 month milestones are:
  • Crawling around like crazy. Lately he seems to have picked it up a speed, making it harder than ever to keep up with him! He’s even starting to climb stairs with success.
  • He’s also pulling himself up and cruising around the edge of furniture. He has also learned to pull himself up on a wall, but he doesn’t really move once he gets up that way. He usually does this right next to a door, because he is totally into opening and closing a door.
  • Kind of waves bye-bye. I’ve been working on this when we leave places, the best time being when we leave daycare since the teachers wave back to him. Daddy has been trying to give “fives” with Owen which he’ll only do if he watches me do it first.
  • Says “Muh-muh” and “Da-da” but I’m not sure he actually associates them to us properly yet.
  • Owen is a big fan of music and he’s starting to dance which is the funniest thing. If he’s standing up, he bounces up and down. If he’s crawling on the floor and music is playing he’ll bob back and forth. Brian and I seem to be having a battle of the bands with Owen. We each think that he likes our favorite artists the best.
  • He is becoming more agile with his fingers. I’m amazed at how good he has gotten at grabbing finger food and putting it in his mouth with no problem.
  • Owen has been sleeping through the night consistently now which is very nice. I’ve noticed that when he’s teething badly, sleeping becomes a little rougher, but for the most part he’s doing great.

Look Mommy!

He seems to know that he's up to no good.

Oh fun, cabinet pulls (surely he doesn't know what they are for)!!!

Look Mommy, I can open it up!
Owen is very much into opening and closing things. We saw this developing at Grandma Kuder's house, and he seems to be mastering the skill now. I think it's time to do more baby-proofing!

Trapped

It's enjoyable to just sit back and watch Owen figure things out on his own. Today I looked on as he got himself trapped under this chair. He wasn't too happy when he couldn't figure out how to get himself out.
