Halloween

We started our Halloween with pumpkin carving. There were four pumpkins to carve, so we had a lot of work on our hands. Of course, we can never do anything simple...we always have to go all elaborate with our carvings. This year's theme was Toy Story. Daddy found a Woody and Buzz carving pattern online, and Owen was super excited about them.

Carving with Owen and Marcus was super fun!
Our annual Halloween family photo. Don't I have the cutest family?

Owen got all dressed up in his fireman costume to go trick-or-treating. He was super hesitant about it all, so we kept it easy with going to neighbors that he knew.

Our neighbor, Elizabeth, got this cute family photo. Owen collected a few treats in his bucket, but was totally uninterested in eating the candy. I think the coolest part about Halloween for Owen was passing out candy at our house. He would get so excited every time the door bell rang, and exclaimed "It's the kids!"

Our pumpkin carvings turned out pretty cool. Daddy is always thrilled with all the complements that we get.

Lexington's Preschool Halloween Parade

Owen was a Fireman for Halloween this year. We picked this costume for him because of his obsession with firetrucks. He was pretty happy with this choice as it didn't take much coaxing to get him into the suit and wear the hat.
We walked around Lexington's Battlegreen along with tons of other preschoolers where Owen enjoys checking out what all other kids are dressed as.

Then we stopped by the library where they had a special craft day (which Mommy loves). Owen and I made some cool egg carton spiders and tissue ghosts.

Play-Doh Mania

Owen has been just crazy for play-doh lately. It can be an ewwy mess, but he gets so excited to play with it. What Mommy and Daddy love is that it can occupy his attention for quite a while.

Fall Photo Shoot

Today we went to Minuteman Park in Concord to take advantage of some wonderful weather and for Mommy to try and get some colorful fall photos of the boys. I wish I could say that my boys were wonderful posers for the camera, but they are not. I did mange to snag a few of Owen where his devilish personality shines through.

Owen wanted to explore like any normal little boy. So I tried my best to just let go and let him do just that.
Playing in the leaves was pure fun for him.

This photo makes me smile because it is SO Owen.

The Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to a local farm to get our Halloween pumpkins. Owen knew what pumpkins were this year, so this was so much fun.

We just need to work on what makes a good pumpkin to pick out. If it were up to him we would have the ugliest, misshapen one possible.

But in the end Owen was thrilled with the whole experience of getting pumpkins.

The best part for Daddy was the challenge of carrying all our selections for ten yards. If he managed this without dropping any then they were ours for $20 bucks. Of course Daddy was thrilled with his achievement, but decided after the fact that he should have tried to carry even more. Oh well...next year!

Then our trip was topped off with a fun hayride around the farm. Owen loves tractor rides, so this was a highlight.

All Play

Most of Owen's time is spent playing and it is just wonderful how his is learning to play all by himself. Sometimes I am amazed at how long he can spend rolling around on the floor playing with one thing. It really makes it nice for Mommy and Daddy when he doesn't need our constant attention.

Adventurous

Owen is all over the place at the playground these days. I couldn't believe it when I saw him climb to the top of this netting. It made me completely nervous to see him up so high, but he had everything totally under control. I guess I just need to remember that he's a boy (and not so little any more).

Happy Birthday, Mommy

Today I celebrated my 35th Birthday with my boys.

Daddy was brave enough to actually make me a cake and Owen was happy to help out with the icing. I think more ended up in his mouth than on the cake!

Owen is really into Birthdays and who wouldn't love something where there's cake involved. He loves to sing Happy Birthday (to his own tune) and it has to be the cutest thing in the world the way he belts it out.
And then there is blowing out the candles. It doesn't get more exciting than this for a 2.5 year old!

We slapped some skin after blowing out all of my birthday candles. What a funny guy!

It was only a matter of time...

Owen is becoming more and more independent. It is no wonder he has figured out how to get in the fridge on his own. The kid LOVES his milk.

Apple Picking

We spent a beautiful day at Shelburne Farm, in Stow with our friends Ana, Sasha, and Danya.

Owen loves the tractors, and so he went back multiple times to the area with all the John Deers. Knowing that he can peddle a bike now, I was a bit surprised that he preferred the tractors that he could just push with his feet. I guess he has done it so long this way he is faster and has more control.
The Bouncy House was a huge hit with Owen and Danya. Luckily they got to spend an extra long time jumping in there because there were no other kids in line. When they finally got kicked out both of them were in tears.

Owen absolutely loved picking the apples this year. While all of us were busy taste testing them, Owen wanted to pick rather than eat. His selection process wasn't the greatest, so we got lots of abnormal looking apples.

Mr. Serious Apple Picker!

Owen was great at making sure no tree was overlooked, while Danya loved munching on all the apples. All in all, it was a super fun day.

Bike Rider

Some rainy weather didn't stop Owen from getting on his wheels. He happily peddled around in our garage when we got home from daycare today. He was getting a little frustrated with the limited space, but I was really impressed with how he wanted to do everything on his own. I heard "No, Mommy" quite a few times.
