Owen goes to Boston

Today was a beautiful, sunny day so Aunt Leslie and I took Owen on his first trip to downtown Boston. Can't you tell how excited he was?!!! We quickly found out that the cobblestone sidewalks are not very stroller friendly, but it didn't phase Owen at all. He slept right through the bumpy rides.

Whenever we go downtown, we almost always head over to the North End and stop in Mike's Pastries. For once the place wasn't very crowded and I was able to maneuver a stroller in there. And if you've ever been, you know how rare that truly is! This photo is mainly for Aunt Cat who will be so jealous that Owen was there without her!

Baby Manicure

One thing you quickly learn with an infant is that their nails grow (in Owen's case - fast). To keep from scratching himself, Brian is the man in charge of keeping Owen's fingernails trim. This is one of the hardest things to do. Today Brian had to wait until Owen was asleep after a car ride in order to get them clipped. Even then it doesn't go all that smoothly because there was a little bleeding involved after this baby manicure. I'm glad Daddy does this chore, but I might have to take over if any more blood is involved!

Aunt Leslie comes to visit Owen

Owen is giving his Aunt Leslie an Infant Care 101 crash course because Owen is going to have a cousin in November (Leslie's pregnant!). He did pretty well with showing her his fussy period, a diaper blow out and a lesson in giving a bath. Aunt Leslie handled it all well, so we gave her two thumbs up. She's going to be a great mother.

We are actually really excited about our growing extended family. Not only is Owen going to have a Kuder cousin, but a Wade cousin as well. Uncle Matt and Aunt Shannon are expecting in December and we couldn't be more thrilled about it.

Home

My maternity leave is fast approaching its end. It makes me very said to think that I'm going to have to drop Owen off at the daycare soon. I just want to spend every second with him until then. I stare at him all day long and think about how much I'm going to miss him. I took this photo of him sleeping on the couch. I just wanted to freeze time and look at him forever. He looked so cute and peaceful. I'm excited for him to grow and everything there is to come, but a little part of me wants him to stay this adorable, little baby forever.

Ode to the Bouncy Chair

Owen is getting closer and closer to holding up his head. And with this comes his ability to sit up nicely in the ultimately awesome, exceptionally wonderful, super dooper Bouncy Chair. This is the most well designed item for an infant. He loves sitting in it. AND if he starts to get the least bit fussy, you just turn on the vibrate and it's a whole new kind of happiness. I drag the Bouncy Chair all over the house. Need to take a shower? No biggie, just put Owen in the Bouncy Chair in the bathroom. Need to wash the dishes? Owen will keep you company in the Bouncy Chair on the counter. The inventor of this chair probably didn't get paid enough! Thanks Lutows for giving us this wonderful chair!!!

Just like Dad

Brian decided to buy himself some super nice(aka $$$) sunglasses. This purchase was not taken lightly, so when Brian finally went ahead and bought them, I thought it would be cute to buy Owen a pair too. You might want to file this under cruel and unusual punishment, because he was not super thrilled to wear them...but I can't help but giggle at how cute my two boys are!

Owen goes to Harvard Square

The weather is nice and we wanted to get out of the house, so we decided on an adventure to Harvard Square. Like always, Owen slept through the entire trip. The more noisy the place, the more soundly he sleeps. What a crazy kid! We did have fun dropping a small fortune on books for him (or should I say for me!).

Little Yoda

Brian says that I love to dress up Owen in outfits (which is totally true), but I think Brian likes to do the same thing. Lately Brian likes to put him in something hooded...even in the house. This is what I found him in today after Daddy dressed him. He does look a little bit like Yoda!!!

Walden Pond

Today I decided that Owen and I needed to get out of the house and do something a little different. There are only so many times you can go to Target, the groccery store or the mall. So I decided taking a hike around Walden Pond would be nice. We are so lucky to be so close to such a beautiful and historical area. I hope some day Owen appreciates all the history that surrounds us as much as I do. But today Owen was clueless...because he slept through the entire thing. I thought maybe he'd wake up when I took him out of his car seat and put him in the baby bjorn. Nope. Not a single eye open during the entire 1.5 mile hike around the pond. Oh well, just an excuse to go back!
While the spring views were so nice, here's where my eyes were most of the time. What an amazing view!!!!

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch, Ouch

Normally a Sponge Bob band-aid might be cute, but not in this case. Today Owen had his 2 month doctor's appointment where he had to have 4 shots. It killed me to watch as he turned lobster red while the shots were given. I can admit it...I cried. I know he will never remember it, but that didn't make it any easier on me. Seeing your child in pain is so heartbreaking. He has pretty much slept the day away, which I hope doesn't mean he'll be up all night.

So what are his stats, you ask?
Weight was 11 lbs. 15 oz. (55th percentile)
Length was 22.75 inches (50th percentile)
Head circumference was 39 cm (25-50th percentile)
What does all this mean...that everything is perfect!

Baby Lounger

I remember when we brought Owen home, the Boppy pillow dwarfed him. He has gotten so big that he's now using it as a lounge chair. They really do grow so fast...now if only his hair had that problem!!!

Smile

This morning I was able to get Owen to give me these really big smiles. He hasn't really done intentional smiles until now. Brian always says the smiles are because he farted. But these smiles were REAL. It was a bit hard to get him to do it for the camera. This was the best shot I got. He seems to be ticklish under his chin. Seeing him smile just warms my heart.

Happy Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day. I can't even put into words how thrilled I am to finally be a mother. Owen has brought me so much joy in the just the few short months that he's been with us. He has begun to really look at me more, especially when I talk or sing to him. It just tickles me to death. Motherhood is this best.

Grandma & Grandpa Wade

Forget the fact that I'm their daughter. They didn't come to see me. I barely got a hug hello before they were all over Owen. Who can blame them really. I'm no where near as cute as him. There's nothing like watching Grandparents overjoyed at seeing their grandchild.

Home Alone

Brian is in San Francisco this week for work, so Owen and I are hanging out alone. It's one thing to be home with him during the day...it's another when there's no Daddy to come home and give Mommy a little break. It is also really nice when Daddy does the 2 am feedings! We are doing well for the most part. Our wonderful neighbor is having us over for dinner.
The saying is true - you don't know what you've got until it's gone. We miss you, Daddy (happy anniversary) - hurry home!
