Happy Memorial Day

Lexington has a tiny (and I mean really tiny) parade through town on Memorial Day and we went to watch. We kept telling Owen there will be a fire truck in the parade, but unfortunately that was not true. The best we got was some old men dressed as Minutemen and the high school marching band.
There were some tributes and speeches on the Battle Green that we hung around to check out. The best part was when a fire truck went by on a real call with sirens and lights flashing. Owen was pretty darn excited and mommy and daddy didn't look like big liars about getting to see a fire truck!
Mommy and Owen camped out on the Battle Green in Lexington Center.

Eyelashes

Owen has these beautiful long eyelashes. Why is it that boys always get them?

Buddies

We had Danya over for a playdate. It is great to watch the boys play and become more interactive. Hopefully some day they will be really good friends.

Backyard Fun

This is the new play structure that got installed in our backyard today. Owen was very excited to play on it. Hopefully it will keep him really occupied outside for the next few years.

The slide was big hit. The first time he went down on his butt it was so fast that he landed a few feet from the bottom of the slide. I think it scared him quite a bit (and mommy too, for that matter). After that he was more cautious and went down on his stomach.

But without question, the sandbox on the bottom is his favorite. Once Daddy put all the sand in it, he was so occupied that he could even bother to look up and smile for the camera.

"What are you doing?"

I find myself asking Owen this all the time lately. I'm not sure why he decided to climb in the infant carrier and pile every blanket he could find on top of himself while cuddling with his stuffed kitty. What a funny guy!

Mr. Banana Man

Owen has really been displaying some independence lately. He'll play on his own, want to try and do things himself (like attempt to put on his shoes), or like the photograph above shows, peeling and eating a banana on his own.

Happy Mother's Day!

So I got woken up by the cutest, flower carrying, little boy this morning. AND he and Daddy cooked me a wonderful breakfast. Owen helped me munch on the food in bed (so glad I had just washed the sheets the day before!).

Then we took a trip to Drumlin Farm to check out all the animals. It was a bit chilly, but that didn't stop us from enjoying a hayride!

A Trip Downtown

We went downtown, but had to take cover here and there as the rain came down.

After a yummy dinner in the North End where Owen proceeded to fill up on bread, we had to make a stop at Mike's.

Then we took a walk out to the pier to check out the big boats. Owen was totally fascinated and got treated to a fairly big boat sail on by.

Aunt Cat was pretty excited about it too!

Engineers!

Aunt Cat and Owen had a great time building the ultimate configuration on the train table. Owen has been absolutely thrilled to have such a fun setup. Thanks, Aunt Cat!

A Visit to the Science Museum

We've never taken Owen the the Science Museum, so we thought we'd give it a try. Unfortunately it really isn't geared towards a toddler, but we had a fun time running around and checking things out here and there.

Owen, you're suppose to listen, not talk into that thing!

Aunt Cat...thanks for keeping things balanced!

Find anything good buried in there?
I think this is one of the most precious photos...the two of them absorbed in story time. Aunt Cat was wonderful and could get Owen to go to bed without any crying. I kept commenting that she had the magic touch.

Robbins Farm Park‏ with Aunt Cat

Aunt Cat got here today and we decided to go to Robbins Farm Park in Arlington since it was such a beautiful day.

Who doesn't love big long slides that are built into the side of a hill? Owen would laugh and squeal for joy the entire way day. He climbed those stairs so many times I thought he would pass out from exhaustion...but he kept right at it. He liked to race down with someone going down the slide right next to him.

It may not look like it, but Owen and Aunt Cat were instantly best friends the second she got here.

Owen did a good job of showing her what little boys are all about.

Swinging from bars was a new one for Owen. There's nothing like seeing Daddy do something and then having your 2 year old want to imitate him.
